Yes, divorce is now regaled in full song and dance on the Broadway stage. According to Andy Webster’s New York Times article, “Conversation Hearts, More ‘Scram’ Than ‘Be Mine'” the musical, “Til Divorce Do Us Part,” is based on the real life experience of Ruthe Ponturo, who conceived the revue, wrote the lyrics, and choreographed the show.

It opens with “Wedding Vows” and takes the audience through “Bitter Pill,” “Gallery of Cads,” “Best Friend Rag,” and other titles that can’t be mentioned in polite company, finally ending with “Better Glad Than Mad.”

“Surprisingly,” in Webster’s own words, “it is not a torrent of invective and spleen ….”
